High-quality PE and sports are vital for keeping young people physically fit and able. Our popular course provides specialist training in teaching physical education and sports. We aim to develop PE teachers capable of working effectively across a range of teaching and practical activities in secondary school settings.
We provide you with essential knowledge and skills in this important area of education, such as the professional, statutory and regulatory requirements within the PE sector. Your training takes place in two different secondary schools and in university environments. By the end of your studies, you will be a confident, competent and effective teacher of physical education with the ability to reflect on both theory and practice.

Year 1
Students are required to study the following compulsory modules.
- Professional Studies (15 credits)
- Placement A (20 credits)
- Placement B1 (20 credits)
- Placement B2 (20 credits)
- Subject Knowledge and Pedagogy – Physical Education (level 7) (45 credits)
