Undertaking a certificate, diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree can help you meet the entry requirements for your preferred course. These qualifications often provide credit, reducing the duration of your bachelor degree and helping you get the degree you want.

International opportunities

Dean’s Scholar students are encouraged to spend one or more semesters at an overseas institution through the Global study and work program at more than 120 partner universities.

Electives and program structure

During this course, you'll develop a strong background in the basic knowledge of your major discipline.

Year 1

You’ll study foundation courses in your discipline, and get an introduction to scientific skills and communication.

Year 2

During second year, you’ll take part in the first of two research placements where you will be mentored by a research-active academic. You will also continue to study courses from your chosen major.

Year 3

You will complete the second mentored research placement and study more advanced courses from your chosen major.

You will continue your research focus with a small research project under supervision in Science Project or an equivalent subject, where you may collaborate with an external organisation.

You'll also prepare for the workforce through work-integrated learning opportunities as part of a relevant professional practice subject relevant to your discipline.

Year 4

You will plan and complete a significant research project in your chosen major, under the supervision of a research active academic.

In addition to this, you will undertake advanced coursework and learn the skills to develop a research proposal and carry out experimental design and data analysis.
